Individual vs. Society- ritual
Family culture
My family has different activities involving my culture. I like the things we do because they are very interesting and fun. I mean wouldn’t you like to do something with your family like have a family reunion in which everyone brings their own food to eat off of or knowing that you dance every weekend with family friends, having fun while at the same time knowing that you represent your culture with pride. See I am proud of being Bolivian because we do things differently than any other Latino culture. Sure we learn about the spoiled girls who celebrate their quinceañeras, but no one celebrates a sweet sixteen like my family does.
I can’t live without my family because they will always be there for me and I love them to death. Every time I go on that dance floor I smile. I can’t help it because I know that my family is proud of me no matter what goes down on that dance floor and if I mess up, so what? I’m not like those spoiled girls we read about in film class. I am me and no one can change that. I am Bolivian and I always will be. My family and my friends will always be there for me and I know I can count on them always and forever.

Individual Vs. Society- Versus
Birthmark
“You have a scratch” That’s what I hear every time someone looks at my chest. I have four moles close to each other which looks like a scratch. At first I didn’t notice It looked like a scratch but by the fact people always tell me about it made me notice it even more. I don’t have any major birthmarks but this one is really special because it’s my only one. One thing is that I don’t get made fun off because it isn’t that big and it doesn’t look unusual. Knowing how people question about it makes me wonder how people with something bigger then that stand the annoyance of public. Everyone has a birthmark either a small one or could be big. I would love another birthmark because I think they look cute and are special in some way. The life I live is a young teen’s ordinary life. Even though there is drama and other different problems I deal with I try to make it the least of my problems because I don’t like dealing with none of that high school stuff. I love the life I live and I am expecting life to have more obstacles in order for me to accomplish.

"The Way We Live Now: Growing Up on Facebook" by Peggy Orenstein
In this article Peggy talks about the fact that she could connect with some of her old friends on facebook. It just shows how facebook could bring back some of your old friends and you could become friends with new people that you meet. I personally dont like meeting new people on any social networking websites unless i meet them in person first. Students should be able to do the same because they dont know wether the person is real or someone else could be using their identity.
"Staring Down Facebook" by Zoe Sandvig
Zoe Sandvig talks about the way facebook makes students interact with others. She discovered that facebook helps students manage their time and work well on things they havent been doing good on. Social networking websites often have a bad idea but in this case it is helping students with better ways of studying and what not. Without these websites students wouldnt be working as often as they do.
Hal Niedzviecki; the New York Times; Facebook in a Crowd
The narrator in his article talks about his feelings towards facebook. Meeting new people is something fun and intersting but usually people are shy and never end up showing up. Hal feels self pity due to his so called friends not arriving to his little get together.
Virginia Heffernan: The New York Times; Being There
In this article students think myspace is just a site for emo kids. They look at facebook as a better website to gather friends and meet new people. Updates through facebook are sometimes pointless and shouldnt be posted. The author talks about a good update that needs to be done on facebook.

"Social Networking Benefits Validated" by Karen Goldberg
In this article they talk about how parents are getting involved with social networking websites such as myspace and facebook. Believe it or not there are some crazy adults that go on to find teenagers and try to talk to them. Parents now should be aware of the poeple there kids talk to and make sure they dont give out personal information on any websites like these. Teens should understand that parents should be aware of their updates and friends they have on any website to make sure they dont get involved in any mess.

Red: "Appeal from an Angry Not So Emo" edited by Amy Goldwasser
Kali states the problems that schools have with discrimination. Judging people by its cover may not be a good way to discover the way they are. Just by dressing the way you dress or doing the stuff you do may not always put you in a category you may fall into. The way Kali and her friends dress makes them known as emo. When they wake up for another day at school all they can think of is being discriminated and not be in such a happy mood.

My LA
“The city of L.A.”
It was Saturday morning. I woke up with the light of the sun. I was getting ready to go to Downtown in Los Angeles. I left my house passing all kinds of restaurants. From McDonalds, Burger King, Panda, In-N-Out, Jack in the box, and Pescado Mojado. Going in the freeway was the worst. Cars here and there, some go slow and fast, there is even accidents that slow down the traffic. It took 1 hour to get there.
As soon as we got there I saw all the cardboard boxes, trash on the streets, bums standing on the corner begging for money, homeless eating, sleeping, and talking to their friends. The streets smelled like sewer, pigeons flying everywhere trying to find food, homeless trying to find anything to smoke. It just makes me sick sometimes looking at what goes on in the city. I walk through downtown looking at the colorful clothes they have, hats, shoes, accessories, people screaming and talking, footsteps everywhere. I smell cigarettes, sewer water, trash, and all the garbage on the streets. I walk into this store, the clothes were well organized, everything was clean, employees were nice, it was well taken care of. I walked out and began to discover everything that goes on.
Walking through different alleys made me wonder how people live here. It was dirty everywhere, it just made me feel dirty but clean at the same time. The food was okay, it was well served, well cooked, and well organized on the plate. We stopped to eat at a Mexican restaurant on the corner of 4th street. I was tired and decided it was time to go. I went back to the parking spot, looking at all the people, homeless here and there, drunk ones laying on the floor, bums asking for money, police passing out tickets, cars going everywhere, ice cream man selling ice cream, pigeons flying everywhere, it was a busy street.
Back on the freeway we went. It was another day in which I saw how people live in. As soon as I got to the valley I saw the difference, it was clean, not much trash, not many homeless, streets were clean, not a busy city. Each time I think about it, I rather stay and live in the valley. I’m used to the environment and the people.
I will live and die in the city of L.A.

My Story (Personal Narrative)
Vivian Sahonero, 18
Wrack-Up
It was a Friday night. A day where teens go and party, have fun, and even hang out with friends. It was six of us in an SUV on our way to a friend’s house. We stopped on a red light on Balboa and Plummer. “GO Danny!” I yelled. As soon as Daniel began to accelerate that’s where my mind went blank. That’s the last thing I remember. I woke up in the hospital attached to all these wires asking myself what had happened to me. I was trying to remember everything that happened but it wasn’t coming to my mind. I had one flashback.
“Do you know your name?” the paramedics asked.
“My name is Vivian Sahonero. S-A-H-O-N-E-R-O” I said while busting into tears.
“Vivian, do you know what happened” one of the paramedics asked.
“No sir I don’t remember anything! I don’t know what happened! What happened? Where is my friend Cynthia!” I yelled.
“You guys got into a car accident” he said with a calm voice.
As soon as I heard those words come out of the paramedic’s mouth I started to cry even more. I don’t remember them putting me on a stretcher. I remember laying down on it with blood all over me. “Danny, why did you do this to me? Why Danny?” I whispered with tears running down my face.
All he did was cry and said “ Your body was hanging outside the door. You weren’t even moving. I looked back because I thought to myself that you would be the first one to scream. I thought you died or you were going to die. All I did was give you a kiss on the forehead and told someone to call the paramedics.”
So I was in the hospital laying there trying to think about what happed but all I knew was that we crashed. It was a horrible experience. I lost a lot of blood, and the doctors thought that I might have lost memory. I got a cat scan to see if everything was okay. I left the hospital within 6 hours. If you looked at my face you wouldn’t be able to recognize me. Out of all six people I was the worst one sitting in the back. Three of us got hurt and were sent to the hospital.
I thought this was just a dream but in the end it actually happened. I couldn’t believe and just by thinking about it made me cry. I was in shock.
All I thank is that one little start, that guardian angel of mine that was watching over me and saved my life.

I Am From Poem
I am from a family of three
Half Bolivian and half Mexican
I am from two different personalities
Funny and nice/ outgoing and loveable
I am from shopping, theaters, beaches,
Parties and friends
I am who I am
Don’t judge me
I am not wacky
But they call me blackie
I am from phones, computers, and television
I am from talkative, caring and indifferent
I am a loud mouth
From suns, flowers, and clouds in a bright sunny day
I am full of smiles and energy
I am short with a big personality
I am the future with an unforgettable past
I am the day to the night
The sunlight to the sun
I am filled with dreams in which I want to accomplish
I am from the little stars in the sky
To the sunrays of the sun
I am from a rose in your garden
I am from a shining star in the sky
I am from a beautiful city
I am unique
From clothes, shoes, and accessories
I am from apples, watermelons and pineapples
I am from a dancing group
I am from a young, crazy, teen life
I am from a good life
I am from music, art, and literature
Half Bolivian and half Mexican

La Crème de la Crème
December 2009
Life is a process. We are a process.
My life is always to remember
Even if I made mistakes
Though I had my special person.
I knew my life wouldn’t worsen
They called me daddy’s little girl.
A young and independent lady
I know I’m not shady
So listen to my story already.
I thought I was dead and gone
As I wake up in the hospital with a yawn
At that moment I knew I found god
I am glad you found me
And know you see
How my life changed from this big accident
It was the worst experience I ever had
This reminded me of what went bad
When my only angel of mine left to paradise
I have few regrets.
But that my president is black
Will never turn back.
Now we live a good life
Better then the life I live
And i thought i was going to go crazy
I like to be miss independent and just dance
When I listen to music I go into a trance
What comes around goes around
We all know as karma
I never like to be mad
I am a person that’s always glad
Imagination Life is your creation!
Lets live our future and view our past.

Mixed CD Story

La Crème de la crème
Looking back at your childhood may be an adventurous experience. I did have a few regrets that I wished to fix and make them better. Throughout my life I had someone very special to look u too. I know not many people are close to their daddy or some don’t even have a daddy. I am happy my daddy is still with because without him I wouldn’t get through the hard times I had in my life. They call me daddy’s little girl.
Music can be expressed in different types of perspectives. Depending on the way you think, or how you feel towards music. I personally love listening to music on any extra time or when I do homework. It makes me concentrate or at times I just listen to it for the fun of it. Songs have many different meanings. It’s like there is a song to every bit of my life. It can either be expressing a good life or a bad life.
Having a loved one pass away is a big turning point in my life. My lifestyle changed once my baby cousin Gabriel Angel Sahonero had passed away. Usually people perish because they already accomplished something in life that they had to accomplish before leaving. In this case my cousin didn’t need to live a life in order to accomplish anything. He left us because it was his time to go. Not only did my cousin cease to exist at still birth but he was a kid with Down syndrome. I met and know my guardian angel that is always watching over me.
As soon as I grew older I became to be more independent and handle things on my own. I had much confidence in succeeding on many of the things I wanted to accomplish in life. I was young and independent. Nobody’s perfect but I tried putting everything together and tried making everything as perfect as possible. It’s not how I did it but what I did.
One of the biggest experiences that I had come against was a car accident that almost took away my life. On January 30, 2009 I suffered a terrible disaster. I try to remember but I can’t think of what had happened that day. “My name is Vivian Sahonero.” That’s all that came to my mind. I don’t know how we crashed or how I got hurt. I was knocked unconscious and woke up in the hospital looking into the eyes of my friend’s dad. I thought it was just a dream but all my friends were telling me that they looked at me and thought I was dying due to the fact that I was hanging outside of the door. I never thought I would come close to death or even close to being in a terrible accident. I look bad and just thank that lucky star that I’m still here living my life.
“Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows heaven to the soul.”

The Stories We Live: Personal Myths and the Making of Self. By: Dan P. McAdams
Summary:
This story was writen by a personality psychologist in which collects data on persons and generates meaningful scientific theories about the significance of human life. As a psychologist he helps people throughout their lifes and accomplish something they wanted to in their young adulthood in which he helps Margret make her life meaningful towards herself. In his case he decided to write this story in order to tell people how we live our lifes by our past and start becoming a better person to have a better future. The things that happened in the past may affect your future but by looking back you might want to becoming a better person then before. How we lived affects us now on how we are going to live.
Connection:
Connection:
I learned that if you have a bad past it could affect you in the future because we live our lifes according to our stories we have. In a film you are producing the character may not be found as perfect but one who has a life similar to them can play a good part. When you are filming you can concentrate on ones past and make it a better future.

I Could Tell You Stories; Sojourns In The Land Of Memory by Patricia Hampl
Summary
The author explains how a writer can use their imagination when telling a story by using memoir. As the author explained memoir cannot be based on the real truth and may have several lies. In order for them to find out what they know they write about what they dont know. The "heart" is the boss of the writer therefore the writer writes without knowing to express hidden emotions of the image stored.
Connection
When making a film ones creativity and imagination may expand on the audiences view towards the film. While being a memoirist it is important "to step into the light" to express your hidden emotions not only the real image that was stored. In order to have a satisfying film it is more suitable to produce it as a memoirist.
